Live & Local is a not-for-profit arts organisation working with a network of voluntary groups across Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland and Leicestershire. We provide a range of support for arts activities that keep people in touch with their communities and enhance their quality of life. They're a forward-thinking and dynamic company, supporting a network of voluntary organisations that bring their communities together to enjoy high-quality, entertaining and affordable professional live theatre, storytelling, music, dance, family & children's shows and film screenings in their local village hall, church or school.
Live & Local contributes to the quality of life within participating communities by enabling arts activities through community self-help. Success stems from partnerships with the participating communities and working with professional artists and a widely skilled staff team and Board. As a result, Live & Local is designated as a key provider within the arts policies of several of these authorities and is a Band 2 National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) of the Arts Council England.
The vision for the new website is to reflect the values and standards of the organisation through the design, functionality and accessibility of a new responsive website, and create the foundations for a management system for all activity and stakeholders. The first phase of the new development will provide essential functionality for audiences, artists, funders, sponsors, partners and other stakeholders, informing them about performances, screenings and projects. The facility to purchase tickets will be added as a separate project. An improved design with a curated user experience, clear funnel to essential information for key stakeholders, and a smooth booking process would improve sales conversions, giving the project a great return on investment.
We took part in a comprehensive tender process and were successful in being commissioned to create a new website for Live & Local, which will be supported by a comprehensive back-end management system in phase 2 of the project.
The website had previously been developed largely in-house and as the organisation had grown over the years it had lost its information architecture integrity and wasn't serving the organisation as they scale. We've developed a state-of-the-art web application for Live & Local with a Umbraco CMS that gives their team much greater control over the website and will serve them in the long term as they expand geographically and the projects they offer. They have since been successful in their application as a National Portfolio
Organisation and have been granted additional funding for our “Levelling Up For Culture” programme that is aimed at places where arts engagement and investment have been lower in the past.
