Clear Solutions engaged Remote to design and build a mobile application and accompanying web-based dashboard to support mining and drilling teams in the field. The app’s primary objectives are to facilitate accurate calculations related to Pure-Bore usage, streamline purchasing decisions, and collect valuable operational data. This data, which uploads to a central database upon connection, is displayed on a real-time dashboard to provide management teams with an operational overview and detailed well-level metrics.
Remote developed a system where users can input field data directly into the mobile app, which synchronises with an Umbraco-based content management system (CMS) to update variables and metrics remotely. Mining companies can manage user accounts and track project progress, while Clear Solutions administrators can adjust key app parameters and view user metrics via the dashboard.
The project presented unique challenges, including the need to develop a tool that would function reliably in remote and disconnected environments, as many mining sites lack continuous internet access. This required an offline-first approach, where data collected offline would synchronise to the central system upon reconnection.
Additionally, each mining operation often has unique metrics and calculation requirements, necessitating an adaptable system that can handle various input formats and offer flexibility in calculations. To address this, Remote designed a solution with customisable inputs and outputs, allowing Clear Solutions to adjust formulas and settings through the CMS without redeploying the app.
Since implementing the app and dashboard solution, Clear Solutions has enhanced the operational efficiency of Pure-Bore usage across multiple drilling sites. Teams in the field now use the app to make precise calculations that directly reduce material waste and environmental impact. Managers benefit from a streamlined overview of each operation, enabling data-driven decisions that optimise drilling efficiency.
The platform has reduced calculation and report generation times significantly, converting what was once a labour-intensive, error-prone process into an efficient, centralised system. This has not only improved user engagement and satisfaction but has also strengthened Clear Solutions’ reputation as a leader in environmentally responsible drilling solutions. With plans to expand the app’s functionality based on user feedback, Clear Solutions anticipates even greater adoption and continued operational improvements.
